The AWL Shipping Story
AWL began life back in 1994 as ANTIQUES WITHIN and still trade today as ANTIQUES WITHIN LTD.
Robert and Polly first opened the doors to Antiques within back in 1994 . A fun interesting Antique centre based in the Staffordshire market town of leek. Renowned for its Antique shops, dealers from around the world would travel on mass to pick through the finest of treasures ,the turnaround of stock was huge and lured many interesting individuals to try their hand at buying and selling. Many good years were spent and life long friendships were born and for that we look back with only fond memories.
Some say the decline of the Antiques trade in leek was down to the shocking Twin towers event that unfolded on 11th September 2001 , along with changing trends and fewer good quality antiques many shops were forced to close the trade shopped further afield and it was time to steer Antiques Within in a slightly new direction. Not overnight I should add . Whilst still remaining to trade as an Antiques dealer, export became a major part of the business and larger premises were needed.
As part of the growth, a need for larger vehicles, to collect clients goods was inevitable.
With a larger cliental and a reputation we strive to improve on even now, we are finding ourselves hopping across the water to collect antiques from the world renown French fairs and further afield to Italy, whilst also re settling the occasional client into the country of their choice to utilise the fuel and space. It wasn't long before Removals was playing a major role in the business and AWL were gaining momentum in a new area. In the past few years with our New branding , supporting local clubs, social media, and lots of recommendations we have found our family business growing in all areas , transport , export storage and removals.
We have never felt the need to advertise as all our work comes from referrals but just like the seeds of antiques within we have to adapt to changing times , so here is our website. Thank you .
